As every busy mother knows, its hard to find time for yourself or any privacy. I don’t think I have pee’d with the door closed in over 7 years. If it has been closed, it most surely was opened within seconds! As a mom I find it hard to find time to do something for myself, let alone have any privacy in any area of my life. I have started to take back a little bit of time here and there, it may only be to read a magazine article or polish my nails, but its somehting right? When I became a mother I jumped in whole heartly and was thrilled to do so, but along the way, I have forgotten who I was. I am also a wife, employee, daughter, friend and a women.

As I turned 40 this year I thought to myself “Who am I?” I am a wonderful mother who had devoted a great deal of her life to raising, and still raising her children, and I wouldn”t have it any other way, but it can be a double edged sword? My children are my life, but I began to wonder if there was more to my life? I hate to sound selfish,  I would do anything for my children and do, but what about me? My children are dressed well, clean and styled, healthy and feed properly. But when it comes to me, there is no time left it seems, so I just throw on the closest pair of sweats, throw my hair in a pony tail, eat the leftover bread crust from their toast for breakfast and go. It hardly seems fair at times. I give all I have, but when it comes to me, I settle for less than best.

Well, I say, not any more. I am devoted to taking some time back for myself and would like all mothers out there to do the same. I am not saying skrimp on taking care of your kids, but just find some time to refresh adn repleninsh yourself. So I am on a personal mission to squeak in personal time, it may be only to pee alone. I say if there isn’t fire or blood, it can wait until I am done going to the bathroom, and lock the  door.

I have discovered I really like to read, dance, and work out and take care of my self better, and along this path , I have found that the world did not stop revolving, my children did not melt or become filthy. I have become happier, more energized and feel better about all aspects of my life, life is still hectic and crazy and down right funny at times, but now I have the energy and the  will to take it all on full force. What better role model than to be all  I can to myself  not only just to my kids. A happy mother is better for all.

So unless there is fire or blood, look for a few moments of peace nad revel in it, incase it oeasn’t come ’round for another few….years.
